Recipe costing

Know what every dish really costs

Menu prices usually chase a guess at food cost. Meezly costs every recipe's ingredients against the invoices you actually pay, with wastage built in, so the number behind each dish is real.

Get started

Priced from what you pay, not a price list

Recipe costing tools that use generic ingredient prices are only ever as good as that list. Meezly skips the list: it costs each ingredient against the last price you actually paid your own suppliers, using the same invoice history that already flags price rises. When a supplier price moves, your recipe cost reflects it.

From upload to cost-per-portion

  • Upload a recipe by photo, PDF or typed list, and the ingredients and quantities are read for you
  • Each ingredient matched to the last price paid for it, from your own invoices
  • Wastage % applied per recipe or overridden per ingredient
  • Total ingredient cost and cost-per-portion, using the recipe's yield

Know before you set the menu price

A dish that looked profitable on a spreadsheet six months ago might not be today. Supplier prices move and wastage gets forgotten. Recipe costing keeps that number current, so menu pricing starts from what a dish’s ingredients actually cost now.

Questions, answered

How does Meezly know what a recipe actually costs?

Upload a recipe as a photo, PDF or typed list and Meezly reads out the ingredients and quantities, then matches each one against the last price you actually paid that supplier for it (the same invoice data that powers price-rise alerts), not a list price or a guess.

Does it account for wastage and prep loss?

Yes. Set a wastage percentage per recipe, or override it per ingredient, and Meezly inflates the costed quantity before pricing, so trim, peel and spoilage are in the number, not left out.

Does the cost include labour or overheads?

No, it's ingredient cost only: real invoice prices plus wastage. Labour and overheads aren't part of what Meezly costs.

Can I fix anything the extraction gets wrong?

Yes. A review screen shows every extracted ingredient, quantity and matched invoice price before you confirm, the same review-and-correct pattern as invoice extraction.
